MEET THE CREW

THE CREW

Producer:  Unathi Motshabi

I am a young Television Producer who was born and raised in Bloemfontein, The City of Roses. My passion for production started at a very young age from watching a lot of South African productions and acting out random scenes at home. When I was given the opportunity to study at AFDA, I knew that I wanted to major in stage acting. However, with the experience that AFDA has provided us, I found a new passion of working behind the scenes. I fell in love with production and the idea of changing the industry from my home town. And with the skills I have acquired, I hope to follow my newly found passion.

Head writer:  Kendra Maduray

Born in Durban on the 15th of October 1998, but raised in Cape Town. My passion for production started from a young age, which stemmed from going to the cinema every weekend. What I loved about writing this documentary was how to show the addiction through storytelling. It was my job to raise awareness to the audience on how drug users suffer from the disease of addiction.

Director:  Moya Marumo

Born in Bloemfontein, but lived in Cape Town for most of her early teen to adult years. Moya is a small 21 year old mixed woman with a lot to say. I notice a lot of things happening all around the world, but the stories are told the same way. I wanted to tell the honest story about the disease that is addiction and kill the "criminal" stereotype. However, this story needed to be told in a way that pulls the audience  towards the storyteller...making them one. Just for one moment, for, the moment you truly step into another persons shoes for as far as possible, you'll get to see their journey from their eyes and reach people from a level of understanding. This is why I decided to direct the often heard story of addiction in a way that reflects the human within it.

I am a young black creative in my early 20s. Story telling has been a huge part of my family, growing up , my parents would always tell stories and play a lot of music that allowed me to imagine and dream of the perfect visuals for the songs I would hear. I wanted to tell my stories with visuals and that is why I chose television.
